Weddings and Events at Llyn Gwynant Barns
Situated on the shores of a lake in the foothills of Eryri (Snowdon), the Llyn Gwynant Barns are an intriguing location for weddings and other celebrations.
In a mountain landscape steeped in myth and magic, the imposing Grade II-listed stone buildings are surrounded by private terraces and beautiful fields which run down to the lake shore. Your wedding ceremony may be held in the wonderful Big Barn or outside on the terrace.
The standard hire is for a full weekend, arriving Friday and leaving on Sunday, and includes exclusive use of the venue, a pagoda marquee on the terrace, the licensed bar staffed on the wedding day, a bridal suite in a glamping tent, a wedding coordinator and use of the fields for camping and glamping.
The barns are not a serviced hotel, so you and your friends can use the spaces and create an event that suits you, with the help of our experienced wedding day coordinator.

Llyn Gwynant barns
The Barns are charming 18th-century stone farm buildings beside the beautiful Llyn (Lake) Gwynant. Three adjoining barns are in the complex: the Big Barn, where the ceremony and reception are held, Tall Barn which forms the entrance and Kitchen Barn with large commercial kitchen.
The Big Barn is a wonderful large room with a peaked slate roof and exposed beams. Tall oak windows line one side and bi-fold doors open up to a slate terrace overlooking the lake. The room is licensed for weddings and is the perfect place for your ceremony, with a stage at one end and space for seating a maximum of 120 people. This is a wonderful room for all kind of dancing, including ceilidhs and barn dances.
Celebrate in your own style by decorating the barns as you wish.
Sound levels are monitored by staff and bands must finish by 12 midnight. The music can continue at a lower level from playlists until the small hours if you wish.

The Food of Love
For the wedding breakfast, we supply all the tables, chairs, table-ware and glassware – and you provide the food.
We can provide details of several local caterers, who have different approaches and different price points, so you have a good range to choose from, please contact us for the latest list.
You may alternatively use other companies, including mobile caterers who serve from food trucks or similar outside, or you may do it yourselves using our fully equipped catering kitchen. You can hire waiting staff from your caterer, or you may do this yourselves or we can provide the staff you need.
For breakfasts and additional meals you and your guests are welcome to use the Kitchen Barn. You must be prepared to clean up and/or remove disposable tableware yourselves.
Raise a glass
The Llyn Gwynant Barns are hired with a licensed bar, fully staffed and open throughout the afternoon and evening of your wedding day, with last orders at midnight. Please note that all drinks on the wedding day must be purchased from us – our licensing conditions do not allow BYO alcohol while the bar is open. On the other days of your booking, the bar will not be open and you are welcome to bring your own drinks (we do not charge corkage).
We have a range of wines, draught beer and spirits and are happy to discuss any special requests. We do not inflate prices – they are similar to those sold in the inns and pubs around this area.

A Time for Sleep
Llyn Gwynant Barns have two beautiful fields running down to the lake. Enclosed by trees, with views of the mountains and the lake, they can be used for guest camping (there are toilets and showers nearby).
Your guests simply bring their own tents and camping gear at no additional charge, or you can create your own mini-festival glamping site by hiring Bell tents from Bear Necessities; no other tent providers are allowed on site. A few electric hook-ups with hard standing for motorhomes or caravans are also free with the hire.
We offer an additional day before or after the weekend for a low extra charge. Monday check-out is highly recommended for a relaxed departure.
Non-camping guests have many options, including Plas Colwyn, a luxury mansion that can accommodate up to 22 people in the heart of Beddgelert, a charming village just 6 miles away. Even closer is Red Dragon Holidays, only 2 miles down the road, which offers a range of options including pods, lodge or apartments. Ask us for the latest list of accommodation options.
Wedding trees
If you are getting married at Llyn Gwynant Barns you can plant a tree in this beautiful place as a commemoration. It costs £75 for a local native tree, grown from local seed and potted about one metre tall, to be planted by you in new small woodland near the barns. Dylan, the woodsman who manages our nearby tree nursery will find you a planting site which he then prepares with pre-dug hole, leaving you the tools and tree ready to plant. He then looks after the tree, creating a hazel surround which he adds later. Available are:
Rowan, otherwise known as the mountain ash, has masses of white flowers in early summer followed by bright red berries in late summer.
Downy birch, a graceful tree with good autumn colors.
Hawthorn, covered in white blossom in early summer followed by bright red berries that last well into the autumn.
Sessile oak, will grow to a large size and lives for hundreds of years, also one of the best trees for wildlife.

You can bring a plaque to put by the tree, so long as it is no larger than 25cm x 15 cm (approx 9 inch by 6 inch). Contact us if you are interested in a wedding tree.
